Toxic Makeup? Try greener cosmetics

Switching all of my cosmetics to greener organic versions was next on my list of riding my beauty routine of toxic chemicals.

I tend to be more of a minimalist when it comes to cosmetics…less is more for me.

I have a number of small red broken capillaries on my cheeks and around my nose so I like to wear foundation to even out my complexion. I just started using Josie Maran’s Argan Matchmaker Serum Foundation and I really like it. I use a brush to apply it. It is pretty cool; it adjusts to your skin coloring, is light weight to wear and offers the perfect coverage for me. In fact, I really do not need to use concealer with this foundation.

However, on the days when I feel I need a little extra coverage I use Bare Escentuals Well Rested. It works well as a general concealer for me.

I recently switched for a powder blush to a cream and really like Josie Maran’s Argan Cream Blush it is easy to apply with my finger tips.

Most days I curl my lashes with a Shu Uemura eyelash curler and apply black Kiehl’s Mineral Mascara. I have tried other brand of mascara but none of them give me the lengthening of the lashes that Kiehl’s does.

It is very rare for me to wear eye shadow or eyeliner but when I do, I like Tarte Cosmetics.

I will usually finish with Burt’s Bees Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil or Josie Maran Argan Lip Gloss. If I feel that I need to kick my lip color up a notch, I use Tarte Cosmetics LipSurgence or LipStick Queen’s Medieval Lipstick.

During the summer months, I carry Boscia Fresh Blotting Linens or Shiseido Pureness Oil-Control Blotting Papers with me to help keep the shin down in my T-zone.

Do you have any favorite organic or natural cosmetics?
