Dining Out

So, you are fabulously wealthy… so eat out every night? Drink until dawn? Probably not… At least not the wealthy folks I’ve met. Most prefer simple meal at home with friends. From experience, I can tell you that some of the most memorable meals that I have had have not been in a restaurant (and I’ve been to a lot of restaurants).

Some of the most pleasurable have been to most simple. A baguette, cheese some fruit and a bottle of wine shared with friends at an outdoor summer concert. A sunset picnic on the beach with my husband (that he packed). A fresh cup of coffee and the Sunday paper while I am still in my pajamas. I’m not saying don’t eat out but what I am saying is you don’t have to do it everyday.

There are some tips for going out that can help stretch your budget. As I mentioned before, one idea is to experience happy hour. In my town some of the best restaurants offer outstanding items from their dinner menus as well as drink specials at happy hour prices. This can be a great way to try a new restaurant. If you enjoy it, you can come back and experience the full menu. Another suggestion is to go out for lunch.

Many places offer a version of their dinner items at lunch at a reduced cost. Sometimes, I’ll go out just for dessert or appetizers, this way I can experience the place without putting a large dent in my wallet.
