Glasses and Shades
Maybe you need to wear glasses to see in the distance or for reading or both! Or maybe you just like wearing glasses as an accessory. If you need glasses, wear them! It is really a shame to not be able to see things clearly. Good news that there are thousands of glasses to choose from these days… You do not have to spend a lot of money to get a nice looking pair of frames. Don’t be fooled into thinking that you have to spend $600 to get a pair that will look nice on you.
Things have changed a lot since the day when $40 would only buy you an outdated frame. Places like Costco even offer vision services these days. I just recently purchased a pair of designer frames with prescription lenses for about $150 at Costco… I was pleasantly surprised! A friend of mine likes to buy frames on-line. This is great if you know what type of frame you want… I would recommend trying on frames at a local shop and then ordering them on-line if the on-line price is better.
Sunglasses are a necessity. When I was younger, sunglasses were thought of as a just a summertime accessory. Sunglasses are still accessories today but, I believe that research has shown that you should always wear sunglasses when spending time in the sun (think of them as sunscreen for the eyes). There are so many choices today when it comes to lenses…you can get specialized lenses for the conditions you will be using the glasses under.
If you spend a lot of time on or near the water, polarized lenses are an absolute must. Now if you think that you are out of luck when it comes to sunglasses if you wear prescription glasses think again. Many companies like HeavyGlare.com and LensCrafters can make affordable prescription sunglasses out a variety of brand name frames. HeavyGlare.com in particular can make prescription lenses for a number of the wrap type frames. So you look great but still be able to see!
A note about online shopping vs. local shopping… many local merchants will meet the prices you find on-line…they want your business…so it pays to ask.
